From the judges: We were impressed with the undertaking of the process and the project planning, knowing there is a database conversion on the horizon. This was an appropriate time to review business processes and look for improvement in processes and data. There was clearly much attention to the detail.

Title of entry: UF Advancement Data Management Framework
About this entry: In an effort to balance the needs of our current state (improved accuracy, consistency and reliability of Advancement data) while planning for a major database conversion, UF Advancement developed a robust framework for data management focused on facilitating data governance, decision-making, and project execution. The UF Advancement Data Management Framework (UFADMF) is an effective, strategic, and collaborative approach to defining, maintaining and stewarding UF Advancement data.
This framework relies on three tiers of communication, decision-making, and execution: executive leadership (Data Governance Executive Committee), strategic/tactical leadership (Data Management Steering Committee), and operational leadership (Implementation Teams).
UF Advancement’s Data Management Framework aligns with the university’s Data Governance procedures while empowering UF Advancement leaders to take ownership of the organization’s deployment and stewardship of data. The framework also drives the execution of data-related projects, processes and procedures by empowering implementation teams to prioritize work, develop annual workplans, and foster a cadence of collaboration and accountability.
This deliberate approach has enabled our operation to work more cohesively on projects and initiatives that involve the usage of critical Advancement data.
