Title of entry: Black Health Matters
About this entry: Before the COVID-19 pandemic drew global attention to racialized health disparities, four recent graduates of the Rollins School of Public Health were working to improve the health of the local Black community in Atlanta. Despite demanding full-time jobs, the four founders of BLKHLTH devote all their spare time and energy to collaborating with organizations that engage with the Black community, putting on community health education events, and conducting workshops to train the current and future health care workforce on the role of racism in perpetuating health disparities. Their vision—a world in which your race does not determine your health.
